Voice Thread Assignment
This week I learned about social learning and tools that support this theory (see previous blog post for more information). One technological tool is a Voice Thread. I created a Voice Thread about the explorer Hernando Cortes. After my students learn about how he conquered the Aztec Empire, they will work in partners to create a new ending to Cortes' story. They will show a peaceful way that Cortes could have gotten the Aztec gold and land without violence. After creating a solution, they will create a Voice Thread recording their story and using images they either find or make. Let me know what you think! In the past I have always had students write a new ending yet I think they will enjoy this much more!

Christa- I think your VT was great. Personally, I was never interested in studying the explorers but I think the use of a VT can make it more interesting and interactive for the students. I also liked the pictures you used. The visual aspect of your VT will allow students to make visual connections to the information being learned and therefore will help in their retention of the information. Good job!
ReplyDeleteChrista, I loved the VoiceThread that you made for your students. The use of the pictures to tell Cortez’s story was great! I also loved how natural you sounded throughout your VoiceThread. This was something I had difficulty with because I created a script to help guide what I wanted to say through each slide and because of this, my VoiceThread did not sound as natural as yours. Your VoiceThread is a great way to get your students engaged in the history lesson and I love the project-based learning activity you included as part of your VoiceThread. This was a great way to not only develop students' understanding of the content, but also encourage the use of critical thinking skills because students are asked to analyze Cortez's actions; requiring them to think about history in an new way. Great job!
ReplyDeleteAwesome VT what a fun unit. I like how you used VT for your Explorer Unit. I would like to adopt your ideas into maybe using it for the first week of school to teach my students the rules and procedures of our class. Then maybe have my students respond to scenarios that show things that is not appropriate and asking them to tell me the appropriate thing to happen. Your VT is very inspiring, thank you for sharing. Check out my VT that I did as a practice run I like what you did in your voice thread. I think that the graphics you chose really speak volumes in sharing content rich material that students can view, providing a visual/audio idea of what you want them to do, the information that you want them to know and understand. Please comment on my VT and let me know what you think.
